Practical digital tools, built by the people who needed them.

Knowco is three working parents with backgrounds in education, technology and e-commerce. We build websites and software that make complicated things easier to deal with, starting with the ones we had to deal with ourselves.

Who we are

We are a small company, and we like it that way. Between us we have taught, built software and run online stores, and all of us are raising children while we do it. That mix is where our ideas come from, and it is also our test for whether an idea is any good.

What we believe

A good tool makes a hard thing simpler without hiding how it works. Whether that is understanding how school choice funding works in your state or putting a clickable map on a website, the goal is the same: you should be able to do the thing yourself, in less time, and understand what happened.

What we are here to do

We combine what we have lived through with what we know how to build. The result is websites and software for families, for the suppliers who serve schools and students, and for people who make things on the web.

What we're building

Every tool we release started as something we needed ourselves. If it solved a real problem for us, it will do the same for someone else.

School Choice Funding

Our first and largest project. A free information site that helps parents and families understand, compare and navigate school choice funding programs, state by state.

Knowco US Map

A WordPress plugin that puts a clickable, accessible map of the United States on any page. We built it for School Choice Funding, then finished it properly so anyone can use it. The free version is coming to the WordPress plugin directory; Pro adds data shading, regions, guided tours and more.

What's next

More software. The map plugin's public launch on WordPress.org is the first step. E-commerce and other digital tools for the same audiences follow.

More information sites. School Choice Funding taught us how much difference a clear, current explanation makes. We are researching other family and education resources that deserve the same treatment.

Built by parents, for communities. We are bootstrapped, we answer our own email, and we would rather be useful than big.
